What is City Beat?

In 2007, the Dickinson Police Department began utilizing Channel 19 Community Access to reach out to the citizens of Dickinson. As part of our community-oriented policing concept, our department features small "behind the scenes" shows giving you an inside look at the police department.

"City Beat" will air periodically throughout the day and can be viewed by tuning your television to Consolidated Channel 19. Low resolution episodes will also be uploaded to this page so you can view the show from your computer as well.

"City Beat" will cover topics such as patrol, dispatch, SWAT, School Resource Officer, drugs, sex offender notification, and many more. We are interested on topics YOU want to know about. You can let us know by filling out the form below. We hope you enjoy!

City Beat Episodes

Episode 3 encompasses snow-related issues the department deals with every winter. Chief Dassinger joins us and explains the city's 48-hour parking ordinance and other snow related items. Later, we ride along with Patrol Officer Gordon Stevens as he conducts one of the more dangerous aspects of police work; traffic stops.

Our second episode highlights the operations, technology, and staff of the Dickinson Regional Communication Center (dispatch). Public Safety Support Specialist Dana Becker joins us for a look at how Dickinson has one of the most modern 911 centers in the region. Later, Officer Kylan Klauzer introduces you to one of the newest tools available to street officers; the Taser X-26 electronic restraint system.
