Officer Jeremy Moser responded to a report of a house on fire in south Dickinson on the evening of January 4th. Upon arriving in the area, he was met by several citizens outside of the burning home. He received information that someone was still trapped inside. Officer Moser, who previously served with the Dickinson Fire Department and US Marine Corps, entered the burning home in search of the victim.
As the fire spread and the smoke thickened, Officer Moser had to return outside for air. On his third attempt to enter the building, he located the male victim lying on the floor and pulled him to safety. The male was flown to a Minneapolis burn center, and survived.
Officer Moser has since been awarded the department's lifesaving award, the Mayor's Commendation award, and the North Dakota Peace Officer Association (NDPOA) Award for Bravery. The three citizens who assisted Officer Moser (Presley Pizzie, Robin Nunley and Casey Pelson) also received the Mayor's Commendation award at the February 5th City Commission meeting.
