What is the Youth Academy Program?
The Youth Academy is a hands-on approach to learning police skills and techniques. The participants will be involved in investigations, crime scenes, interviewing and interrogations, patrolling, tactical team exercises, drug enforcement, laser shooting scenarios and more. The participants are given the opportunity to ride in the squad car with officers on patrol. They will see first-hand what the officer does when he responds to calls and how he deals with everyday occurrences. The classes in the past have logged over 140 hours of ride-along time with various officers. They witnessed everything from traffic stops to high stress calls. How do I apply for the Youth Academy? You may pick up an application at the Law Enforcement Center, from your School Resource Officer, or download the application by clicking the link below. Return the completed application to the Law Enforcement Center (66 West Museum Drive).
