The Dickinson Police Department will be hosting a two-day training on cellphone forensics on March 18th and 19th, 2010. Cellular Data Resources is a company that provides practical, hands-on training related to reading and analyzing cell phone records such as cell tower and call detail records. Their course is POST approved in most states, and should have NDPOST approval within a few weeks.
Current sworn law enforcement officers may attend the class by clicking the logo below and selecting the "Upcoming Courses" link. Students are required to bring their own laptops. The cost of registration is $500, which includes software and guidebooks.
It's that time of the year again, and Dickinson has seen its first snow of the season. The Dickinson Police Department would like to take this time to remind citizens of the 48-hour parking ordinance for vehicles.
City Ordinance 930 (23.56.290) states that the owner or driver of a vehicle shall not cause or allow such vehicle to stand, remain, or park in any one place upon any street, avenue, or alley of the city for a period of time longer than 48 hours.
The purpose of the ordinance, especially in the winter months, is to help keep our streets clean and safe. Snowplow drivers are given a difficult job to navigate around parked motor vehicles. If parked vehicles are not moved after the plows have come by, and we experience another snow storm similar in pattern of that in 2008, the snow berms creep closer and closer to the center of the streets. Many streets in 2008 virtually became one-lane roadways as a result.
The City of Dickinson would also like to remind citizens that they have 72-hours after a snowstorm to clear their sidewalks (33.04.290). It is also against ordinance (33.04.310) to blow or deposit snow from private property or sidewalks onto the driving lane of the roadway.
So help keep your neighborhood safe and clean. Your assistance is greatly appreciated! For a map of the emergency snow routes, please click the map below.

The state of North Dakota has recently joined a victim notification service called Vinelink. Vinelink is designed to give victims of a crime up-to-the-minute status of an offender's location within the criminal justice system. Victims can simply visit the Vinelink website at www.vinelink.com and enter the offender's name. The website will search for the offender and display if he/she is currently released from jail, prison, or parole. Victims can be notified by email or phone when the offender is released from any of the three areas.
The North Dakota brand of Vinelink, called ND SAVIN, is a collaborative effort between North Dakota CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Sharing) and the APPRISS company. It is a free service to the public. Click on the logo below for more information

The Dickinson Police Association held it's first-ever "Knight for a Princess" daddy-daughter dance and fundraiser on May 1st at the Eagle's Club. The turnout was tremendous, and the Association would like to extend their thanks to all who participated. Since the evening was so successful, plans are already underway to hold another daddy-daughter dance in the near future. The Association is planning dividing the evenings by different age groups.
The Dickinson Police Association is comprised of officers, dispatchers, and administration within the police department. The organization assists various charity groups as well as the families of officers in the region who have been injured or slain in the line of duty.
In addition to the dance, with music provided by K-Hook, the daddy-daughter couple also got their pictures professionally taken by Weiler Photography. Those photographs will be available to the couples within the next two weeks.
Again, the Dickinson Police Association would like to extend their sincere thanks to all those who participated and look forward to meeting everyone again at the next "Knight for a Princess"!
