What is City Beat?
In the first quarter of 2007, the Dickinson Police Department will begin utilizing Channel 19 Community Access to reach out to the citizens of Dickinson. As part of our community-oriented policing concept, our department will feature small "behind the scenes" shows giving you an inside look at the police department.
"City Beat" will air periodically throughout the day and can be viewed by tuning your television to Consolidated Channel 19. Low resolution episodes will also be uploaded to this page so you can view the show from your computer as well.
"City Beat" will cover topics such as patrol, dispatch, SWAT, School Resource Officer, drugs, sex offender notification, and many more. We are interested on topics YOU want to know about. You can let us know by filling out the form below. We hope you enjoy!
City Beat Episodes
EPISODE 1
The first episode of City Beat gives you a quick overview of the Dickinson Police Department, our structure, functions, and introduce you to some of the staff. We were joined by Chief Chuck Rummel. Chief Rummel gave us some of his views of the department and lets us know where he plans to take it. Later, we were joined by Officer Matt Lechler and his K-9 drug dog "Duke" and gave you an inside look at the life of a K-9 handler.
EPISODE 2
Our second episode highlights the operations, technology, and staff of the Dickinson Regional Communication Center (dispatch). Public Safety Support Specialist Dana Becker joins us for a look at how Dickinson has one of the most modern 911 centers in the region. Later, Officer Kylan Klauzer introduces you to one of the newest tools available to street officers; the Taser X-26 electronic restraint system.
